This is a packaging design project created in response to a brief titled “Repair and Ritual”. The brief asked to create packaging for two items, one representing repair and the other representing ritual. For repair, I chose a needle and thread, while for ritual I chose a packet of poppy seeds. In choosing these items, I wanted to create packaging that would inspire people to reinvigorate slow, but valuable skills that are gradually being lost to industrialisation.

The design for needle and thread features a unique net design I created, which requires zero glue and forms the shape of a house. Both sides of the net are considered, with branding on the outside and instructional illustrations on the inside. Both designs use minimal ink for sustainability, as well as braille for accessibility.

For the poppy seed packet, I wanted to insert a similarly playful element, this time in the form of a pop-up poppy flower to bring the design to life. The design also included instructional illustrations for growth. Both designs are monochromatic to reduce use of toxic inks. The only other surface treatment is embossing, which is used for braille and decoration on the poppy flower pop-up.
